Getting Started with Copilot for Microsoft 365 – The Learning Guide

Everybody has heard or seen about Copilot for Microsoft 365 in the last couple of months. A lot of information and sessions/events/webinars came our way. I’ve noticed that it made it hard to get my hands on how to get started with it as a Modern Workplace Consultant. Microsoft Learn has a great set of courses on how to get started with Copilot for Microsoft 365. Let me sum up those courses:

  • MS-4004: Empower your workforce with Copilot for Microsoft 365 Use cases
  • MS-4005: Craft effective prompts for Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365
  • MS-4006: Copilot for Microsoft 365 for Administrators
  • MS-4007: Copilot for Microsoft 365 User Enablement Specialist

The courses

MS-4004: Empower your workforce with Copilot for Microsoft 365 Use cases

This is a two-part course. The first part is Getting Started with Copilot for Microsoft 365 and introduces you to Copilot for Microsoft 365. It also examines how to use Copilot with Microsoft 365 apps and explores the best practices for using Copilot.

The second part is to Empower your workforce with Copilot for Microsoft 365 Use Cases and will focus on Copilot in several use cases using Copilot in various Microsoft 365 Apps.

MS-4005: Craft effective prompts for Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365

This course exists out of two learning paths, the first one is the same as in the MS-4004 course, Get Started with Copilot for Microsoft.

The second one is Craft effective prompts for Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 and will teach you the importance of creating prompts the right way for the best results.

MS-4006: Copilot for Microsoft 365 for Administrators

This course can be learnfull for the IT administrators among us, it will cover some more technical subjects on Copilot for Microsoft 365. The first learning path is to Prepare your organization for Copilot for Microsoft 365, which will cover the design of Copilot for Microsoft 365, security and compliance, and instructions on how to implement it.

The next learning path is to Manage data security for Copilot for Microsoft, this will cover the security features in Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID for securing your data.

The last learning path in this course is Manage data compliance for Copilot for Microsoft 365 which will cover the features in Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID on how to secure your sensitive data that Copilot for Microsoft 365 uses.

MS-4007: Copilot for Microsoft 365 User Enablement Specialist

This course is mainly for people involved in the adoption of Copilot for Microsoft 365. Are you an enablement specialist, business leader, manager or anyone involved in adoption, this course is one for you.

It exists out two learning paths, the first one is to Get started with Copilot for Microsoft 365 (it’s the same one as in courses MS-4004 and MS-4005), and the second one is to Discover how to drive enablement of Copilot for Microsoft 365 in your organization and will learn you how to drive adoption of Copilot for Microsoft 365 and how to implement a adoption plan.

So if you are new to Copilot for Microsoft 365 or don’t know where to start, I think this is a great series to learn about the basics of Copilot for Microsoft 365. All these courses are provided for free by Microsoft, so don’t hesitate to start your journey by gaining knowledge of Copilot for Microsoft 365.
