Last Friday my colleague Joery Van den Bosch (go check out his blog) and I had the privilege to attend the WorkplaceDudes Summit 2024 at the Dutch Innovation Factory in Zoetermeer (Netherlands). It was an all-day event focused on workplace innovation and packed with great sessions about Microsoft Security, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Teams, Patch Management, etc…
Who are those so-called WorkplaceDudes?
First, let me tell you something about those so-called WorkplaceDudes. The WorkplaceDudes (Jeroen Burgerhout, Engin Soysal, Richard Sousa Ferreira and Pascal Vis) are a bunch of passionate individuals who share their knowledge and insights about modern workplaces in conjunction with Microsoft technology.
They also host a Youtube channel where they discuss various Microsoft-related topics, including certifications, exam preparation, and so on. If you want to get to know these guys, go and follow them on X, LinkedIn, and Youtube.
The Recap
First thing first, the registration! After picking up my badge and a nice swag bag, we were ready to go!
We started the day with the Opening Keynote, “Learn to Fly with Copilot for Security” by Samantha Kloos-Kilkens from Microsoft. She showed us some demos (in a funny way) on how you win time for investigating Security alerts by using Copilot for Security.
The second session of the day was an interesting one by Pim Jacobs. In his session called “Help, Entra Connect Cloud Sync is here! All you need to know to boost your migration!“, he showed us the features and implementation of the new Microsoft Entra Connect Cloud Sync and why and how you should migrate to it (if you use Entra Connect Sync). Very interesting topic on the future of Identity sync.
During the lunch break, I took the time to say hello to the wonderful people of Patch My PC! Always nice to see those familiar faces and also one of the sponsors with the largest swag on every event!
After lunch, Wout Vergauwen of Patch My PC took the stage and showed us during his session “Whatβs New, Whatβs Next in Application Management and Reporting” how important it is to keep your applications up-to-date. He also showed us how easy you can deploy and auto-update your applications in Microsoft Intune with Patch My PC’s newest tool Patch My PC Cloud.
Next up was Jeff Wouters, he showed us on how to get started with Powershell and Graph API in his “Intune & Graph API – Getting started + Tips & Tricks“. A real funny guy, but never say that Marvel and DC are the same thing!! Something I fully support!
Then in the next session, Ruud Gijsbers Rademakers navigated us through the RBAC roles in Microsoft Intune in his session “Navigating the Landscape of RBAC Roles in Intune“. He showed us how to use scope tags, RBAC roles, and custom roles to narrow down administrator permissions in Microsoft Intune regarding device management.
And as the grand finale Joost Gelijsteen and the one-and-only Mister MDM himself, Rudy Ooms took stage and showed us what Endpoint Privileged Management (EPM) in Microsoft Intune can do, but also a Level 3000 deep dive on what is happening on your device when you active EPM in their session “Microsoft EPM and the chocolate Intune v2 factory“. With all this known, there are some great times ahead of us! Keep your eye on Microsoft Intune v2.
Conclusion
What can we say, it was an event with everything in it, from great sponsors to interesting sessions, and meeting new and familiar faces. A big thumbs up to the WorkplaceDudes for organizing such a great event. Keep up the good work and hope to see you all next year! Cheers!
