Yesterday on the first day of Microsoft Inspire they introduced Bing Chat Enterprise. In this article, I will show you how to enable Bing Chat Enterprise on your Microsoft 365 tenant in Preview.
As of mid-August 2023, Bing Chat Enterprise will be enabled by default for all tenants with the following active licenses:
- Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3/E5 and Microsoft 365 Business Standard/Premium
What do we need?
- A Microsoft 365 tenant with Microsoft Search in Bing setting enabled
- One of the following licenses: Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3/E5 or Microsoft 365 Business Standard/Premium
- A tenant administrator for enabling the preview.
Check Microsoft Search in Bing setting
First, we must check if the Microsoft Search for Bing setting is Active in our Microsoft 365 tenant. If this setting isn’t active, Bing Chat Enterprise isn’t accessible with your licensed user and only Bing Chat (for unauthorized and personal Microsoft accounts) will be available.
Go to Microsoft 365 Admin Center | Settings | Search & intelligence | Configurations and make sure the Microsoft Search in Bing setting is Active.
Enable the preview Bing Chat for Enterprise
Open Microsoft Edge and make sure you are signed in with a Tenant Administrator (sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center), then open a new tab in the same browser and go to https://aka.ms/TurnOnBCE or https://www.bing.com/business/bceadmin.
Now accept the Bing Chat Enterprise Supplemental Terms and check Turn On, after that choose Confirm.
Bing Chat Enterprise is now enabled for your tenant. It could take up to 2-4 hours before it’s activated for your licensed users.
End user experience
Now how does it look for our end users? If Bing Chat Enterprise is enabled all your company and personal data are protected.
